The Unforgiving Servant

Matt 18:23-35 Therefore the Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who wanted to reconcile accounts with his servants. When he had begun to reconcile, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. But because he couldn’t pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, with his wife, his children, and all that he had, and payment to be made. The servant therefore fell down and kneeled before him, saying, ‘Lord, have patience with me, and I will repay you all!’ The lord of that servant, being moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt. "But that servant went out, and found one of his fellow servants, who owed him one hundred denarii, and he grabbed him, and took him by the throat, saying, ‘Pay me what you owe!’ "So his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, ‘Have patience with me, and I will repay you!’ He would not, but went and cast him into prison, until he should pay back that which was due. So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were exceedingly sorry, and came and told to their lord all that was done. Then his lord called him in, and said to him, ‘You wicked servant! I forgave you all that debt, because you begged me. Shouldn’t you also have had mercy on your fellow servant, even as I had mercy on you?’ His lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors, until he should pay all that was due to him. So my heavenly Father will also do to you, if you don’t each forgive your brother from your hearts for his misdeeds."

Neuroses, Superstition and practicality

Wake up this morning and head into the kitchen to make some coffee. Reach under the sink to grab the coffee machine (don't make it every day therefore it doesn't have any reserved space on the counter-top...more on that later), add 2 cups of water and then 3 heaping (pyramids of Giza, heaping) tablespoons of the best cheap maxwell house coffee, money can buy. It took some years but I have learned to appreciate the finer aromas only found in a fresh brewed pot of maxwell house..."the best part of waking up"...oops wrong company.
So after flipping the switch, I contemplate whether or not there's any cream in the fridge. Firm believer that coffee is not worth drinking (especially this 5* hogwash they call maxwell house...and seriously maxwell house was probably a plantation owned by the maxwell family. So if you ever run into a Maxwell...punch 'em in the genitals for
a. Slavery
b. Crimes against humanity (Coffee production)

I had to put slavery first or else I'd feel bad all day and have to watch Amistad tonight followed by 3 sets of personal flogging aka self flagellation (lol personal flogging...sounds dirty doesn't it).

Talk about side track...so then I open the fridge door and pull out the milk and am trying to decide whether or not prepare a cup with cream and sugar or just wait till game time (when the coffee is brewed). I decide on the former, but the problem arises when it comes to selecting a mug. Rather than choosing the mug I always use, I end up putting it back in the cupboard and grabbing the mug right next to it. While trying to make up my mind about whether or not to change cups today it dawns on me that maybe a new cup is in order to shake things up a little. A curve ball of sorts.
It's not like i'm frosty standing at the cross roads trying to make a decision that's going to shape my life. At the moment it felt as if this was the first and most important decision of the day...one that would shape how this day, and those to come would play themselves out. The fact that i'm writing about this may make some believe that my early morning conundrum may very well be signs of neurotic tendencies...but if, and only if this decision has no impact. But if by inciting this very tale, the mug has changed in a little way my future decisions (for instance wasting time writing this) then it may very well have been practical. I guess we'll have to see how this plays itself out. Anyways back to the cream.

18% is over kill but it does make Tim Horton's blend of rocks and sticks taste wonderful. I'm a firm believer that if your going to eat, you should eat well. Definitely not quantity, it's all about doing everything in moderation, but enjoying every bite and sip along the way. Otherwise what's the point. If your like me and you don't want to eat porridge every morning, then you have to find an equivalent substitute that you truly enjoy. A piece of bread, some cheese, tomato and some yogurt...the wonderful backpackers breakfast. It's got everything you need, especially if you wash it down with a nice cup of coffee infused with 10% cream...hmm nice and fatty.

That's enough for today...
